Intensive Russian Strikes Disrupt Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while residents in eastern districts were left without electricity and encountered problems to water systems, as stated by local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was lost their life in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while officials has requested "real steps" from allies to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the major economies - in providing defensive weapons and enforcing sanctions," he wrote in a social media post.

He said that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty missiles struck the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were working to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, as confirmed by city authorities.

Regional authorities said the city endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A minor died and three other people were injured.

The strikes follow evenings of air raids in the territory, portions of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

The whole nation is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to identify.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was intentionally trying to demolish the national power system, with strikes already disrupting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and authorities were bracing for more assaults.
