Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has outperformed his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team ran a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before sliding over the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the quick descending corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in P19, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
